A large number of people think that “if” there’s a heaven, everybody will be going there – except perhaps Adolph Hitler, Donald Trump, their ex, and their neighbor. Some belief systems see Hitler as being redeemable…
For the record, I expect to see Trump there. Don’t agree? That’s your right. But what about it? Will everyone else go to heaven?
If everyone is going to be there, please count me out. I don’t want to go – because heaven would, in that case, be just like earth is now, oozing with slander, violence, inane “music”, lies, corruption, snobbery, division, and just about every human failing and weakness you can think of – and that’s just the church!
On top of that, all the people who wouldn’t choose to go to heaven if you paid them would be there, against their will. They hate the very concept of heaven, and writhe in anguish and gnash their teeth at the slightest mention of it or God. Imagine the spiteful, nasty humour of a God who would create such a heaven and send everyone there, for ever and ever, in an eternal hell called “heaven”.
Isn’t it just possible that a God who would and could create heaven would have his own ideas about who would qualify to go there? Let’s hope and pray that he does. Let’s hope and pray that he has standards. Let’s hope and pray that he will make some sort of judgment about who will and who will not go there, so that heaven will not be filled with all those things I mentioned above. Then the only remaining question, since God created all of the cosmos and owns it all, is, “Where will everyone else go?”
