NOT GOD, NOT A JELLYFISH

If you’re a true believer in the God of the Bible you see the enormous and inherent value of human life and human dignity. In contrast, if you are a believer in Darwinian evolution, you have to conclude that humanity only has the value we currently assign to it-something which can be changed depending on who is in power over us.

I can’t help but pass on another of Tucker Carlson’s pearls of wisdom, as a perfect demonstration of my point in this post. In one of Tucker’s recent speeches in Canada, he said this:

“When you realize you’re not God you have hit upon the root of all wisdom”.

Those of us who have matured a little in our faith, or who have learned enough hard lessons in life and have still kept our faith, have come to the same conclusion as Tucker. And oh, what a freeing conclusion it is! God is infinitely above us in power, in intelligence, wisdom, love, and just about any positive attribute you can imagine. And when you stop kicking against the way of things and against the will of God; and when you finally slump to the floor in utter defeat and humility, you can see it: the one realization you should have had all along.

NOT A JELLYFISH

In about as stark a contrast as you can find to the Christian view of the value of humanity, I saw a clip of video, passed on by JP Sears on YouTube*, in which one of the speakers at the recent Davos debacle-the gathering of the self-proclaimed “World Economic Forum”-goes much further in putting us all in our place than just telling us we aren’t God. There, where huge egos and huge bank accounts gather to decide how we peons should live our lives (or to their tacet preference, how we should die) one character, Dr Noah Yuval Harari, said the following:

“But human rights are just like heaven and like God: it’s just a fictional story that we’ve invented and spread around… “just as jellyfish and woodpeckers and ostriches have no rights, Homo Sapiens have no rights also”.

The logical conclusion for all who believe in Darwinian evolution has to be that you and I are of no more value than a jellyfish: we’re just one of the creatures living on the earth, and we have no rights besides what those with more power and wealth allow us to have.

ROUGH TRADE

What an arrogant statement for someone who claims to be telling us how to live our lives! And if you are one who has rejected the fact that we were created by an all-knowing and supreme being, you have no recourse but to bow to your god, which is government. Human government will tell you what you’re worth. It will take what you have earned and then tell you what you can have and what you can’t have. It will tell you what you can and cannot do, what you can and cannot say and what you can and cannot think. You have made a very, very poor choice.

I’m all for respecting our fellow creatures and all of creation, as is our God (see Revelation 11:18). The correct view of the Bible believer is to elevate human -all human- worth and to respect nature while being superior to it.

HOW VALUABLE WE REALLY ARE!

In truth, we humans are very little in comparison to our Creator, and yet we are of Great value to Him. So much so, that He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die as a sacrifice for our sins.

Here’s what David had to say on the subject of our worth:

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?  You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet.” (Psalm 8:3-6).
