Should we as Christians forget our differences with those of other faiths? Should we all get together in one big love-feast; compromise; build bridges; accept other beliefs and new ways of thinking? Should we open our minds to twenty-first century morality and lifestyles which deny what our God has told us? The answer, if you’re really following Jesus Christ, is a definite “No”.
To be sure, we are to reach out in love to everyone, and to be kind and merciful to all, but not to the point of compromise with falsehood and sin. We need to draw others into the truth we’ve been brought into by the sacrifice of Christ, but we should never step into their error. We have to stand firm, in an age when so many people are falling.
INSTRUCTION MANUAL
Our ultimate guide, if we really are Christians, is the Bible. Without that guide, we’re at the mercy of any and every idea which comes along to tickle our ears. You can’t go far in the Bible without coming across some very clear distinctions and very clear directions. For example, Jesus Christ said numerous things like this:
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6).
THE COMING HARVEST
Scripture often speaks of a special harvest: a harvest of people. The day will come when all those who have loved God the Father and who have accepted His Son when they had the chance, will be taken into His presence, while those who have hated and rejected Him will in turn be rejected. This speaks very plainly of division. In fact, Jesus used such terms and brought attention to this principle:
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law (Matthew 10:34-35 KJV).
TWO WORLDS
There are two worlds in one on this earth, and our God calls us to step into His world and stay there, despite all the lures calling us to the other – the world that is opposed to Him. We are called to follow Him, and to live in obedience to Him and His ways. We’re called to know what His truth is, and to stick to it with all our strength.
The other world, also present in this physical realm we’re a part of, lives in opposition and willing ignorance of Him. It tells us that we evolved from bacteria. It tells us that love and sex are synonyms. It wants us to think that we can decide for ourselves what’s right and what’s wrong. The Lord and Creator of all things has warned us to separate ourselves from this deception; this world of false religions and false ideas, which He refers to as a “harlot”:
And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues…” (Revelation 18:4).

This is a powerful and unapologetic reminder of the clarity and authority of God’s Word in an age of confusion and compromise. Thank you for boldly standing on biblical truth and reminding us that love must never come at the expense of truth. As followers of Christ, we are indeed called to love all people—but also to remain unwavering in our commitment to the gospel and the teachings of Scripture. May we have the courage to live in the world without conforming to it, and the compassion to reach others with the truth that saves.
