The November/ December copy of “Acts and Facts” included a fascinating article about some of the wonders of the cell. Dr. Randy Guliuzza began his article, “Billions of Biological Nanomachines Point to Christ’s Workmanship” by developing his title.
CHRIST THE DESIGNER AND SUSTAINER
While the evolutionist insists that all of life came about simply by random mutations and natural selection-chance and blind physical processes-the evidence becomes increasingly clear to anyone who is truly open minded that the opposite is true. Just as human technology comes about only by design and intelligence, so life-far more complex than any human engineering, and staggeringly so-can only be the product of a master designer.
Our Bible states without equivocation that all things were made by Christ and all things are sustained by Him (see Colossians 1:15-17). Dr. Guliuzza notes how Paul declares that there is no excuse for those who deny the Creator, because the evidence for design and for God’s creative power is clearly seen (Romans 1:18-25).
UNDENIABLE ENGINEERING
Guliuzza goes on to describe some of what he calls the “undeniable engineering” seen in the cell. He writes that it’s not only complexity that we should be paying attention to, but also how researchers “…find components of the cell performing functions that correspond precisely to human-engineered components doing similar things”. He writes that secular researchers are diving into this new and vast field of research, and quotes some of them:
“Billions of biological molecular machines operate in every living cell. These macromolecular complexes perform critical tasks, such as protein folding, DNA replication, transcription, and the transportation of various cargos…” (Dr. Vladimir Didenko).
Billions of machines in every one of your trillions of cells, all working together on your behalf!
Here’s another quote:
“While belonging to the nanoscale, protein machines are so complex that tracing even a small fraction of their cycle requires weeks of calculations on super-computers” (Flechsig, H and A.S. Mikchailov).
DENYING OBVIOUS DESIGN
A few Christian scientists (this is my observation now) have been at the forefront of this research for decades, perhaps most notably Michael Behe. His book “Darwin’s Black Box”, which I read long ago and loved, created a huge stir and backlash from evolutionists because it was so powerful and enlightening for those who were searching for truth. They stood against his assertions, but he answered and maintains his position that the cell was obviously designed.
Dr. Guliuzza discusses how the secular world fights agressively against the notion of design within the cell, and notes, “When someone credits nature for creating itself and fails to credit God as Creator, as millions do, they show a lack of respect for and an irreverent disregard of Him”.
I would add to that Peter’s observation of the attitude of scoffers of end times, willingly-intentionally-ignorant of the Creator:
For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old… (2 Peter 3:5).
And again, Paul put it this way:
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse (Romans 1:18-20).
Paul wrote that in the first century, even without the benefit of seeing the amazing and beautiful workings of the cell.
FAR MORE COMPLEX THAN ANY COMPUTER SOFTWARE
I here want to repeat the Bill Gates quote I once shared. Gates, so instrumental in the development of the modern computer, wrote this:
“Human DNA is like a computer program, but far, far more advanced than any software we’ve ever created.”

The evolutionist looks at the cell having intentionally removed God from his mind. He doesn’t see God in there waving, and he doesn’t see little signs saying, “Copyright God 0000”. He concludes that all the incredible complexity he sees is the result of physical processes, but doesn’t consider that God made a physical universe. God is an invisible myth, he is convinced, and therefore everything visible is completely natural. Here is willing ignorance and bias.
