Many of us secretly or even openly wish we were special in some way. We admire the celebrities, the successful and the achievers, and we quietly judge ourselves for being plain or for being nobodies. Yet almost all of us miss the one simple opportunity to become very special.
Some people are like a ray of sunshine. Have you ever met one of them? They pour out warmth and love and kindness. Others are like a thunder cloud, or a shadow on a foggy dark night. Others go unnoticed completely.
Which of these are you? Which am I? Several times in recent years I’ve commented to my God how special and beautiful someone I’ve met is in their character, and then asked Him why I’m not and never have been like them.
Oh Lord, I’ve spent too much of my life being like a dark cloud, or being insignificant in the way I treat and respond to others. Please forgive me. Please teach me to be one of the special people. Please teach me to be like a ray of sunshine in the lives of others.
