Atheists and agnostics mock Christians for worshiping a God who can’t be seen. He isn’t peeping out from behind the clouds, He isn’t sitting on the church roof, He’s never been to university (so far as we can tell) He's never been on TV, He doesn’t jump when he’s told to, and He doesn’t stop people stealing from little old ladies (click the title to read on).
Isn't it sexist to be discussing manhood and a binary division imposed by a past oppressive society? Isn't it small-minded and exclusionary? After all, gender distinctions are being erased, right? In answer, I have no intention of being divisive, except perhaps to divide reality from nonsense; truth from foolishness; light from darkness, and God from the one who wants to destroy or to trash all that God has made.
According to some Christians you can't be an effective, powerful witness unless you as a believer go on to get baptized in the Spirit after your conversion and speak in tongues. If you don't speak in tongues, you're only half baked, they think, and you have little power to witness to the world. I intend to show here that this is faulty theology, and it's a theology which creates an ungodly, unnecessary and prideful class structure within the Church.
Oh Lord, thank you for being in my life. I thank you because you help me see which way is up. You help me understand what it is to be a man. You help me see truth. You set my feet on solid rock.
I've come across many people and many situations over the years where believers were convinced that it was necessary to engage in spiritual warfare with the use of the gift of tongues. Is this true?
