Throughout the gospels Jesus Christ is seen to give sight to the blind, make the lame walk, raise the dead, walk on water and feed thousands. Today many Christians are determined to hold to the notion that they are doing miracles in their churches and on the streets, when in fact they are belittling the name of Christ, the glory of Christ and the true power of God.
In the "Great Commission" Jesus told his disciples that they would receive power when the Holy Spirit came upon them. What exactly did he mean by "power"? What kind of power would it be, and what would it be used for?
For those of you in a hurry, here's the gist of my essay today: It is faith in God that we need, not faith in healers. God is able to do all things, but He does not, and He is under no obligation to do what we ask or demand. Humanity and nature is under a Curse. God can and will heal, if it's within His will.
While secular scientists claim to have backed the concept of God into a corner by explaining things in physical terms instead of what they dismissively and condescendingly describe as superstition, the truth is that the physical universe and all the laws they observe were created by God in the first place.
One section of the Church universal is convinced, to varying degrees, that God will do whatever we ask Him to do. All we need is the faith to get it done.
