Jesus is Coming Again Part 3: Iron, Clay and Globalism.

As I shared in part two of this series, the book of Daniel foretells a succession of world empires. That is, empires as God sees them, and empires which directly affect the nation of Israel – central to Bible prophecy. The last empire before the coming of the Messiah will be (and now is) an amalgamation of nations and people groups which will never actually succeed in blending.

In Daniel chapter two Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of an idol made of differing metals is interpreted. Daniel explains the symbolism of its feet and toes, made of iron and clay, which speak of an end-times empire:

“And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron mixes with clay (Daniel 2:43).

I’m not here making negative comments about skin colours. Black, white and brown can get along beautifully and so they should. Instead this prophecy speaks of two barriers to successful blending: a forced mingling of mutually exclusive cultures (verse 43) and a weakness in decision-making and the resultant lack of clear direction (verses 41 and 42). While it’s always good to experience other cultures and learn from them, some beliefs and practises just cannot live together in harmony or in true democracy and freedom, any more than iron can mingle with clay.

FUNDAMENTAL CHANGE

The West is being changed fundamentally by elites and not by grass-roots movements. In Europe millions of migrants move in without hindrance but with plenty of encouragement. In the United States Donald Trump has managed to halt a similar movement or at least to slow it down, for now. Under the leadership of Democrats literally millions of people from all over the world were walking over the US southern border and instantly gaining access to taxpayers’ hard-earned money. Leftist politicians and elites persuaded their voters that borders were immoral and unnecessary.

Change is being orchestrated by elites who think we should be governed by international laws and treaties and not by national sovereignty. The Christian West with its traditions, its history and its support of Israel must go, according to these people. For my money this was the central reason Trump was vehemently opposed by so many people in high places: he wanted to restore the sovereignty of the United States. Once they succeed in getting rid of him and perhaps his successor, the slide of the West towards the events of Revelation will continue. At least one prominent prophecy ministry teaches that the United States will remain independent: I don’t see that in Scripture.

In recent decades large numbers of immigrants have been ushered into Europe with no legal documentation and without question, whose religion is fundamentally anti-Christ and anti-Semitic. I am fully in agreement with welcoming in people from all over the world if they are deserving and if they agree to fit in, but many of these migrants have no intention of assimilating. Their wish is to bring Europe and the world into submission to their god. While it’s true that many of them are peaceful and upright, they accompany those whose intentions and methods are very different.

We don’t know for sure if this religious and political movement will gain control of the West, but it’s interesting that Bible prophecy foretells the Beast of Revelation will be both anti-Christ and anti-Semitic – sentiments shared by many of the migrants and also spreading among the original citizens.

SUBMISSION

In Europe illegal immigrants are supported by taxpayers who are now forced to hold their tongues. Questioning the large-scale invasion – as some have labelled it – is now virtually illegal, and people are being arrested for posting negative questions or comments on social media. It seems to me that now once -free citizens are forbidden from criticising or questioning the intentions of those doing the invading, submission has already taken place.

Political commentator Dr Steve Turley shared in July ’25 how the European Union is fining Hungary one million Euros a day for refusing to allow illegal immigration into their country. “The EU is punishing an entire nation for defending its sovereignty”. Turley goes on to say, “Here’s the truth: National Sovereignty is the only real basis for democracy. Without it your vote means nothing… “without it (national sovereignty) democracy is just an illusion”.

GLOBAL GOVERNANCE

So-called prophecy experts in the past have made the mistake of thinking that we would see a world government which would erase all nation states and subsequently be commanded by Antichrist, but several prophecies in the Bible make clear that nation states will continue to exist, while losing their sovereignty. Revelation speaks of Antichrist and his empire suddenly popping into existence at the same time.

This will be a takeover: Daniel’s prophecy in chapter two expresses no subsequent empire to the one represented by iron and clay, though it does speak of ten final rulers as represented by the toes of the image. Revelation also predicts ten leaders being subservient to Antichrist. No doubt the movement of globalism in recent decades and the setting up of large political blocks such as the EU are preparing the world for this event.

Those who birthed the Common Market – progenitor of the European Union – had political union in mind all along, but they pretended to only desire a common market of trade. Now national governments still make some decisions but some or most of the big, important ones such as how many immigrants your nation should be flooded with are made by the distant and out of touch EU. Margaret Thatcher saw the future and at least verbally opposed political union, but in actuality barely slowed it down. National independence is now close to evaporating completely in Europe.

I believe we are living in the “empire” of the idol’s feet – made of iron and clay – representing the West and the push for global governance. At some time in the not-too-distant future the “toes” of the image will appear quite suddenly, for a reason we don’t yet know. These are the ten leaders who will rule with Antichrist. According to Daniel’s prophecy, it’s at this time that the Messiah, represented by a great rock which smashes the idol, the rule of humanity in opposition to God, is due to appear:

“In the time of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever” (Daniel 2:44).
