What’s literature for if you can’t go out on a limb once in a while? A little speculation can be a healthy thing, and predictions are simply tools of preparation for the future. Where I will draw the proverbial line is at “prophecy”. Far be it from me to claim that “The Lord told me”, when He hasn’t.
As I peer into the future in attempts to see my Lord coming on the clouds of heaven, I try to connect clearer passages of Biblical prophecy with the dots of current events, praying that I will not misrepresent my God or mislead anyone in the process. So please don’t take this as a hard and fast prediction.
RIPE FOR FULFILLMENT. It seems to me that the fulfillment of Ezekiels prophecy concerning an invasion of re-gathered Israel cannot be far in the future (chapters 38 and 39). Jews have moved into Israel from the nations of the world in recent decades since its re-creation, and Aliyah continues. The nation has grown greatly in population, prosperity and power, as foretold in earlier chapters. Its enemies are those foretold in Scripture. Most particularly, there’s clear indication according to Ezekiel that the invading force will see Israel as being a newly re-formed nation, not one which has been in place for centuries (Ezekiel 38:12).
Further, western nations have become increasingly opposed to the principle of Israel defending itself, and the urge to blame all the ills of the world on tiny Israel has grown in leaps and bounds, helped lately by the likes of Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens. Scripture paints a picture of the world turning on tiny Israel, and that looks increasingly possible. Those opposing Israel are opposing the Lord of heaven and earth. They are guilty – I hear someone say? Apart from the mercy which is available through Jesus Christ we’re all ripe for the judgment of God, and God will fulfill his promises to Israel despite the nation’s faults (Ezekiel 36:22-23).
PERSIA AKA IRAN. One of the nations said in Ezekiel to accompany the great invasion from the north will be “Persia”. Until 1935 Iran was called “Persia”, so Persia and Iran are one and the same. The Islamic regime has supported anti-Israel terrorists across the region for decades. What are we to make of the large American force which has parked itself not far from Iran, while Trump threatens to end the regime and restore the nation to its people? Will his action nullify the prophecy?
THE END OF IRAN’S HATRED FOR ISRAEL? Were the U.S. forces to end the Ayatollah and his rule and return the land to the people who are largely pro-West, pro-freedom, and not anti-Semitic, it seems the prophecy regarding Persia taking part in an invasion of Israel is under threat. Can Trump annul God’s foresight? Will America prove Ezekiel and therefore Biblical inerrancy wrong? Here are my thoughts on the matter.
NO REGIME CHANGE? The invasion spoken of in Ezekiel is just that-a physical attempt to overrun tiny Israel and destroy its population. Currently Trump’s strategy is intended to put an end to The Ayatollah’s efforts to get nuclear weapons, in large part because the regime has repeatedly vowed to wipe Israel off the map and then turn on the United States. It appears therefore, according to Ezekiel, that while Trump may achieve his goal of ending Iran’s nuclear program he will not – and the people will not – succeed in forcing regime change. The Islamic Republic will remain, unfortunately. Were Iran to become pro-West under the people there would be no desire in the new government to destroy Israel. However, if the regime remains an invasion as prophesied in Ezekiel would become necessary to attain Iran’s goal, since they will have no nuclear weapons to attack Israel with.
FULFILLMENT EITHER WAY. Whatever Trump does or doesn’t pull off, something is due to give the Israelis a false sense of security in future years, according to Ezekiel’s prophecy. The alternative to my theory is that even if Trump or the people bring about regime change, the nation’s government will eventually fall back into the hands of an Islamic regime anyway. Once Trump, and perhaps his successor have gone, the United States is likely to move back in line with the globalists of the Western world, who prefer Islam to Christianity and Judaism. No other world power has the will to oppose Iranian regime, and no other American leader after Trump is likely to try. European governments such as the UK seem to tacitly be supporting the regime, as they blindly submit their own societies to Islam. Either way, God’s word will be fulfilled while most of the world has no clue and no will to know what’s really going on, and no desire to know what God’s unalterable plan is. When the nations eventually attack Israel, God will stand up, and Christ will come.
