It’s very human to think that God smiles and winks at everything people do, except perhaps certain types of murder and the things those awful people next door get up to. But like it or not, the God of the Bible disciplines even his own people-for their good.
Why does a new car devolve into a rusted, broken wreck? Why do the weeds keep coming back in the garden? Why do we get sick? Why does life sometimes seem like an unwinnable battle…
Like it or not “those” people have free-will, just as we do and unfortunately humans sometimes hurt each other with that free will.
Why do we suffer, and more importantly, why does God allow us to suffer? Why doesn’t he just step in and stop bad things from happening?
Why do we suffer? Surely, if there’s a loving God, there should be no suffering, or alternatively any bad events or conditions should be short-lived and quickly fixed.
