Why is it that simply believing in someone can make the difference between gaining eternal life and being eternally lost? Surely God doesn't expect us all to believe in someone we can't even see or hear? Surely scientists, historians and archaeologists of our time -the clever people - have all concluded that there is no God and that Jesus either didn't exist at all or was deluded or misquoted?
Atheists and agnostics mock Christians for worshiping a God who can’t be seen. He isn’t peeping out from behind the clouds, He isn’t sitting on the church roof, He’s never been to university (so far as we can tell) He's never been on TV, He doesn’t jump when he’s told to, and He doesn’t stop people stealing from little old ladies (click the title to read on).
Those who demand that we pay attention to science only, and not to what they call “superstition”, claiming that science and faith are incompatible, are on very shaky ground. Why? not least because of that which physicists have been discovering, researching and theorizing over for the past hundred and fifty years, about the nature of our physical universe.
I recently wrote about free will in relation to faith using reason only, promising to consider Scripture very soon. So now I offer what I consider a Biblical viewpoint on the matter.
If you really want to find evidence to support the Bible and its God, you can: there's plenty of it. Of course, there are no photographs of Jesus, or emails from Moses to Aaron, or videos of the Flood inundating the earth. And if you're hoping that God is going to peep between the clouds so that you can have faith, forget it- it isn't going to happen.
