How should we feel about the political state of our nation and our world? Anyone who has their eyes open can’t fail to feel trepidation, disgust and frustration when looking at what our so-called “leaders”, and our potential leaders, say and get up to. But perhaps there’s another way of looking at things…
For example, did you know that the Democratic VP candidate, Tim Walz as Governor of Minnesota signed legislation to provide tampons in boys’ bathrooms at schools? Is this a man fit to run a nation and a civilization? He also helped to transform Minnesota into a “trans refuge” state (1).
In looking for documentation of this, I was reminded that Google works to shield their chosen party in the upcoming elections (yes, the truth is managed by unelected hacks). The uppermost search results are from solidly leftist “news” organizations, feverishly working to make both Harris and Walz look like the greatest and most moderate politicians on the planet; covering up past gaffs and extreme or unpopular decisions and comments. At the bottom of the search page is an admission that “some results have been removed”. Why bother to post that, Google?
I could, of course, write pages of such information. Again, anyone with open eyes knows what’s going on, and what’s been going on in terms of the endless assaults on Trump for the past eight years. We’re also aware that the attacks are not over. Democrats and their media (and their shadow president) already have some strategies up their sleeves, one of which is to invoke the new 25th Amendment in order to immediately impeach Trump the moment he’s elected (2).
COUP?
Was Biden forcefully removed from office? Just days before he “resigned” he was stating firmly that he had no intention of backing out of his campaign. Initially he was said to be suffering with Covid, then it was a stroke, and now he’s giving interviews. There is no truth in mainstream media. Many observers have defined these events as a “coup”. The United States probably has the most corrupt and hate-filled media in the world, not to mention the fact that the presidency is being managed beyond and apart from any “rights” voters once had. The United States is not free at all in the sense that we want to think it is, and it appears that much of the Western world is in the same boat.
THE SPIRITUAL BATTLE BEHIND IT ALL
I listen to a broad variety of political commentators. One who was solidly “left” leaning and mocking Trump just four years ago is now a professing Christian and has moved to the other side of the political divide, regularly defending Trump. He recently observed, wisely, that what we see going on in our political world is far more than just disagreements over policy and the squabbling of power-mad people: it’s a spiritual battle, going on right in front of our spiritual eyes, though unseen by those who do not know our God. Russel Brand quoted Paul from his letter to the Ephesians:
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12).
Other celebrities questioning the Democrats’ motives, such as Tucker Carlson, have come to the same conclusion. The level of hatred, the schemes, the shadow governing, the threat of world war without attempts to make peace, the political persecutions and the lies, can only mean one thing, and that thing is clearly labelled by Paul. At its heart is a spiritual battle-not for supremacy, because God is unchangeably Lord over all. Instead, it’s a battle for the hearts and the souls of millions and billions of people. Those who have no time for our God except verbally in order to be elected are in the enemy’s camp, and the most gross, vile, perverted and disgusting spiritual entities are behind it all.
LAUGH
One of my favorite commentators, Scotsman Neil Oliver in the United Kingdom, who sees what is going on but as yet hasn’t come to a knowledge of Jesus Christ, recently remarked that we need to find the lighter side of it all in order to rise above the darkness emotionally. It’s a fact that the British (my people of origin) commonly make humour in any situation, and make jokes of the most serious and pompous personalities. Neil discusses just how fake and shallow are some of the characters seeking to shape us all and says, “The ridiculousness of our situation begs laughter”. With sharp British wit he observes that “Some of our leaders are out there where the buses don’t run”. He says he thinks they are “…using ‘Nineteen-Eighty-Four’ and ‘Brave New World’ as instruction manuals” (3). Finally, Oliver suggests,
“If we’re going to go down at least we could die laughing”.
VICTORY!
Neil’s prescription is in my view a good one and not without benefit. However, in addition, and to trump it all (pun not intended) the believer has the hope of eternity-a far more valuable outlook-and the knowledge that in the end, God wins. Those grappling for power, influence and money will one day face their maker. We already have the victory. I was reminded this week of an old song the Salvation Army would often sing when I was a boy. I can remember it being sung with fervor in the church I attended (thanks dad). The chorus reads as follows:
Ever is the war cry, “Victory, victory!
Ever is the war cry, “Victory!”
Write it on the banner, waft it on the breeze:
Victory! Victory! Victory!”
