King Charles recently stated that he is no longer just the defender of the Christian faith but the defender of all faiths. Such a statement is doublespeak. I totally agree with defending the people of every faith if they're not trying to dominate or destroy your civilization and culture: that's a Godly thing to do. I'm also happy to live next door to and mix with people who are not at all like me. However, if you claim that all faiths are equally valid and aim to defend all faiths you are unavoidably denying all faiths, because all real faiths have specific beliefs

Have Scientists Created a Cell?

A recent article I saw on Facebook which had originally been published by CNN, claimed that scientists have constructed a cell for the first time. Scanning the comments I came across one person revelling in the news as a means of mocking creationists. He pictured creationists wringing their hands, shutting their ears and refusing to listen to the facts. Did he have good reason to gloat? Is the news correct, and if so, does it conclusively prove, as this person seemed to think and as many people I've known think, that life came about by random natural processes?

I've always loved that verse contained in Isaiah, speaking of the coming time when God's reign is made manifest on the earth, which tells us that "the trees of the field shall clap their hands" (Isaiah 55:12). I thought, as most Bible-believing and conservative Christians will insist, that such passages speaking of nature as having consciousness are metaphorical only. The trees will seem to be clapping their hands because that's the sound some trees make when a strong breeze blows through them. However, I'm just beginning to open up my mind to the possibility that such passages speak of something more than metaphor.

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is one of those indispensable doctrines for anyone claiming to follow him. Paul made this plain in his first letter to the Corinthians. He had seen the risen Christ, and he stressed that without the resurrection the Christian faith and the Christian gospel is empty and powerless. Without it we are dead in our sins, and without it we are not outworking the will of God as we like to think, but just playing at being good people before our lives end and we are extinguished forever.
