Sometimes I experience moments or even hours of despair, when I see the state of our world. Good is called evil, and evil is called good. The immoral and the liars and the perverted seem to be on the ascendancy. Our governments seem to be wholly controlled by the corrupt, and those in media who should be exposing them are instead a part of the corruption. What can we do?
Those who telll us that there will be a great revival are false prophets, denying what even Jesus has said:
Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold (Matthew 24:12).
We who are in the faith have to remind ourselves that there is coming a Day when all wrongs will be righted, and when the wicked will be brought to justice. The creator of all things is also the Judge of all things. In the meantime, we have to be careful not to thow up our hands. It would be too easy to think “Where are you Lord?” and to give up. We can’t fall into the trap of thinking that there’s no remedy for the situation: there is. And we’ve been warned, long ago, by our Lord and by His followers, that we would be in this situation, and that the number of people given over to evil and the rejection of God would increase, not decrease.
So while I hate to say that it’s going to get worse before it gets better, we must know that we have to stele ourselves for the future. And knowing we’ve been warned by the Lord that we claim should be enought to keep us strong. Here’s the promise for those of us who stay the course:: the remainder of the above quote of Jesus Christ:
… but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved (verse 13).
Again, we have the charge to stand strong, in Revelation:
This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of God’s people (Revelation 13:10).
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus (Revelation 14:12).
