Considering current political discussion and sparks flying over the subject of Israel and its legitimacy, I decided I needed to contribute my “two cents” to it all, because knowing what I know, I believe my God expects it of me. Up front I want to state that I no longer have any respect I might have once had for Candace Owens or Tucker Carlson as commentators or “investigators”. If you are believing their viewpoints and their so-called “evidence” against Israel you are in opposition to the will of God.
GENOCIDE? The accusations that Israel was committing genocide on Gaza was childish, hateful, judgmental, uninformed and illogical. Had the Israelis wanted to do this, they could have done it in very short order. The IDF have taken great pains to avoid civilian casualties. However, when the enemy who has just slaughtered twelve hundred of your innocent citizens hides behind their own children, the biggest mistake is to let them survive to do it again. Their children’s blood is on their own hands.
WHAT I DO KNOW. I spent six months in Israel myself and travelled the length and breadth of it (in fact I’ve walked the breadth of it). I’ve studied its history, along with that of some notable Jew-haters such as Hitler. I’ve also spent four decades looking into the Scriptures and the prophecies of end times. I therefore think I have some right and ability to comment on the matter.
A TINY LAND. Most people could not find Israel on a globe or a map of the world, it’s that tiny. If you think Israel should give half of its land to its enemies, you are asking the people of Israel to commit suicide. Yet according to today’s critics, Israel and its people are guilty of all the ills of the world. Anti-Semitism is rearing its dragon-like head once more. I am here to tell you – to warn you – not to go that way.
THE ACCUSER IN CHIEF. I’m not going to go into the details of the accusations being made, except to say that while it’s good and acceptable to criticize and to examine factually, some influencers are so far away from the truth that they are (probably unknowingly) speaking the thoughts of the devil himself. Satan, said Jesus, is the father of lies (John 8:44).
Hitler went through the whole span of blame for the Jews: you can read it in “Mein Kampf”. All the ills of the world were their fault. He was obsessed with their extinction. Now we see the same evil – yes evil – attempts to pin all ills on the nation of Israel rising in the West. Prophecies of end times speak of the entire world eventually gathering to remove Israel from the land and especially from Jerusalem. It isn’t going to work, and while the attackers will have some initial success, all those in on the act will come to a terrible end. In fact their hatred will lead them into a trap laid by God himself:
I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it…. Then the Lord will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights on a day of battle (Zechariah 14:2-3).
Satan is also known in heaven as “the accuser”, and we see his fate and heaven’s commentary on his fate in the book of Revelation:
“And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God” (Revelation 12:10).
STOP POINTING FINGERS. As with all nations including those we all live in, Israel has its shortcomings and its faults, and everyone is going to answer for what has been said and done, including Israel. However, it’s nothing short of insanity and hatred to attempt to paste one nation with such blame as I hear. I’m in agreement that Israel had every right and duty to its citizens to respond to the October 7th massacre of over twelve hundred children, babies, old people, young women and men, which was as evil an act as could be. They also had no choice but to deal with the growing gauntlet of military threats surrounding their land. The Israeli government would have been failing miserably in its number one duty had it not decided to come down very heavily on those who have vowed to wipe out the entire nation of Israel. Bibi Netanyahu had to give a very stern message to all those – and there are millions – who share Hitler’s line that Jews are vermin which should be wiped from the face of the earth. Any lesser response would have been inadequate.
THE BIG PICTURE. However, there’s an even bigger picture behind it all. I recently published an article about the importance of Isreal in the events immediately prior to the return of Jesus Christ, so I don’t need to go into the details here. I will just share a few thoughts.
NOT REJECTED. First, those in the Church who insist that God is finished with Israel as a nation and as a people have some kind of bias against the Jew. They are hugely mistaken and will likely be, at the very least, ashamed of their position at the judgment seat of Christ. They are ignoring or allegorizing beyond recognition certain scripture passages, such as the one below, in which Paul declares that the Jew will be restored to his own rightful place in the scheme of God’s grand plan of the ages. Even in his late writings Paul distinguishes between the Jew and the Gentile: Jew had not been erased. The two are indeed one spiritually when they are in Christ, but the physical distinction remains:
I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew (Romans 11:1).
This is a promise directly to the physical descendants of the patriarchs, not to Gentiles.
THE FUTURE. Secondly, they are ignoring the prophecies which clearly foretell a return of Jews to their ancient homeland, shortly before the events which will culminate in the judgment of mankind:
After many days you will be called to arms. In future years you will invade a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and now all of them live in safety (Ezekiel 38:8-9).
THE DEVIL’S WORK. Thirdly, by opposing the state of Israel, by encouraging the haters of the Jew, and by denying Israel’s right to defend itself against enemies bent on the annihilation of Israel and its citizens, spokespeople claiming even to speak for God are taking part in the fulfillment of prophecies such as the one above. They are doing the devil’s work. They are joining in the ranks of haters who through the ages have hounded a people who just want to be left alone to live out their lives peacefully in their own little piece of the world. They are essentially serving Satan and not God:
Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.” And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne (Revelation 12:3-5).
When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child (verse 13).
HEED THE WARNINGS. Paul gave the warning not to reject the people of Israel almost two thousand years ago: why ignore it?
As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable (Romans 11:28-29).
Sometimes it’s said that God’s promise of blessing to those who blessed Abraham and cursing to those who cursed him only applied to him personally. They are very wrong. We can see that in the New Testament, and don’t forget, Jesus and his disciples were Jewish. The promise is in the writings above and in many other passages, but here’s one from the Old Testament. King Balak wanted the prophet Balaam to curse Israel for him. Here’s Balaam’s response:
How can I curse
those whom God has not cursed?
How can I denounce
those whom the Lord has not denounced? (Numbers 23:8).
The world is going to find out the hard way, unfortunately, just how much God is determined to keep His promises. Whose side are you on: the world’s or God’s? Your fate may be linked to your answer.
