I’ve had it with “experts”, of all shapes and sizes…it’s time to exorcise them from my view of the world entirely!

untitled

For a large part of my life I’ve had an inbuilt distrust for “experts” in the secular world. You know-the ones who “must be right” because they went to X university and appeared on TV; the ones who tell us that we’re related to slugs; the ones who tell us that by eating hamburgers we’re destroying planet earth; the ones who so want us to be tolerant that they will not tolerate any other view but theirs, and the ones who tell us that candidate X (yes, I do like the letter “x”) obviously has no path to election.

I’ve also had an intrinsic distrust for those in the “religious” world who invent their own theology and call it Truth. You know-the ones who say that all religions lead to God (which God they don’t say-they just know it’s not the Biblical God); the ones who say that if you don’t speak in tongues you’re useless to God; the ones who say that Allah and Jehovah are one; the ones who say that John Doe is the latest Prophet and we all need to listen to him, and the ones who want to cut your head off if you don’t see things their way.

However, in recent years I’ve been distancing myself also from many “experts” within the evangelical Christian world. You know, the ones who are, metaphorically speaking, paraded on Christian radio and in the pulpits, and now behind microphones and guitars, as bearers of True doctrine. They went to X university, they’re good-looking, and they’ve written five hundred and sixty two million books on the subject, so they must be right.

There are Christian ministers and teachers who will tell you to “be like the Bereans” by searching the scriptures “to see if these things are so”, and who will then tell you how to be like the Bereans their way…

They’re the ones who say that they need X million dollars in the next two weeks to continue their ministry so “give as much as God is leading you to give”. They’re the ones who say that “God has a wonderful plan for your life” while Christians around the world get driven from their homes and slaughtered horribly by their persecutors. They’re the ones who tell me that I’m clearly a Jew and Israel-hater because I’m not a Pre-Trib believer; the ones who say that the early chapters of Genesis are merely poetic language to describe evolution- for example, that the word “day” really means billions of years and that God only told Noah to build a boat so he could float around on a lake for a while. They’re the ones who insist that Biblical wine is only grape juice, failing to explain why Paul would say that older women should not be addicted to “grape juice” (Titus 2:3).

I’ve had it with the “experts”. From now on, it’s me and my Bible.

WAS NOAH’S ARK REALLY AN ALIEN SPACE SHIP?! We can now reveal the results of explosive new research!! The most up-to date understanding of ancient Biblical manuscripts, along with on-site cutting-edge micro-laser technology, has led experts to conclude that Noah’s ark was not a large wooden ship designed to float on water at all, but an ALIEN STAR CRUISER!

Phoenix_landing2

(An artist’s impression of Noah’s Ark)

Dr. Popp E. Cock, leading a most highly qualified research team, has stated the star cruiser was originally used to ferry early humans to the ancient earth, perhaps two million years ago.

Leading theologians, historians and archaeologists have confirmed Popp E. Cock’s research. Among the findings of the latest expert analysis of Bible scriptures are these:

  • The Nephilim, mentioned in Genesis chapter 6, were an alien race from somewhere in our own galaxy, and were overseeing human progress and evolution for up to two million years!!

MAY 2012 to JULY 2013 089

(Artist’s impression of  Nephilim)

  • The Bible reference to Noah “walking with God” (Genesis 6:10) indicates that man was in close co-operation with the Nephilim, who helped him utilize the star cruiser as a rescue ship during earth’s most recent ice-age and following floods!!
  • Words in Genesis originally translated “gopher wood” or “Cypress wood”, the material which Noah was told to build the ark with, are actually ancient Hebrew words referring to incredible metal alloys of an unknown composure! Most likely Noah had to make some repairs to the vessel with materials provided by the Nephilim!!
  • The reason the ark has never been found is that it probably returned to space after the last ice-age subsided: scorch marks matching the dimensions of the ark given in Genesis chapter six have been found in Eastern Turkey!!
  • The Nephilim may be preparing for another intervention in human history, to save us all from the terrible effects of global climate change we’re all experiencing!

Now I’m going to be serious…

WHAT DO I MEAN BY WHAT DO I MEAN?

I created the above story to make a point about faith-or perhaps the lack of it. We all know that there are unbelievers by the million who eagerly accept such narratives while trashing the original in the Bible, but it’s scary to recognize that there are some in the professing Christian world who also prefer to accept such ideas. In fact on almost every Biblical topic they’ll believe and teach just about anything other than the plain, clear record of scripture.

I had a conversation several years ago with a self-professed Christian man which developed onto a full-scale heated debate. I happened to mention to him casually my belief in a certain Biblical doctrine, and he asked suspiciously what I meant by it. When I quoted from the Old Testament to explain my view, he asserted forcefully that, “It doesn’t mean that!” I asked him what he thought it meant, and his reply was, “I don’t know, but it doesn’t mean that!”.

This was the tone of the entire debate. Whatever was clearly stated in Scripture was, in his eyes, open to any interpretation but the obvious one. While he “believed” everything in the Bible, his view was that any attempt to impose an interpretation on it is unavoidably faulty.

It seems to me that if Scripture doesn’t mean what it says, then we and our “teachers” and guides can make it mean what we want it to mean, depending on what the trend and thinking of the day is. With this attitude, truth, even in the church, is being attacked or masked, and the unwary and imprudent are fooled.

TELLING THE WORLD THAT GOD CAN’T TELL THE TRUTH OR COMMUNICATE IT

“The Independent” on 28th October of 2014 relayed the message from the Pope that God either can’t tell the truth or doesn’t mean what he says. Pope Francis declared that:

“The theories of evolution and the Big Bang are real and God is not “a magician with a magic wand”

Speaking at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, the Pope made comments which experts (note the impressive “experts” word) said put an end to the “pseudo theories” of creationism and intelligent design that some argue were encouraged by his predecessor, Benedict XVI (1).

Can I hear the funeral march? It’s the death of truth, or at least, the attempted murder of it. Is not the Biblical record one of miracles? Does scripture not declare that Jesus Christ said “with God all things are possible”? Why would anyone want to head a religion which has no divine power or wisdom but only human knowledge?

howling wolf

A recent guest on a certain nationwide Christain radio talk show (another “expert”) chewed and spat out the Bible’s six days of creation. He claimed that the first verse of Genesis chapter one, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”, is not a part of the following six days of creation, but is separated from them by who knows how long: perhaps billions of years. While the famous female host fell over herself agreeing with him for thousands of people to hear, my mind went to Exodus:

“Six days you shall labor, but the seventh day is a Sabbath…For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh” (Exodus 20:11).

This very plainly-worded verse directly contradicts what Professor X had said, because in it the Lord-not just Moses- declares that everything, including the heavens as noted in Genesis 1:1, was created in six days. There is no word about any billions of years gap between the creation of the universe and the creation of life on the earth: it’s been inserted by those who just can’t stomach the idea that secular scientists-unbelievers-could be biased and wrong.

The guest went on to explain why he thinks that the days are not days at all. The Bible “says” days-evenings and mornings and all, but it doesn’t “mean” days.

Well, thank you for enlightening me oh great one, because of-course God is incapable of getting it right or making himself clear. We need high priests like you masquerading as believers to straighten us-and Him-out.

11043126-dramatic-background--dark-sky-bright-light

Admittedly Professor X is scientifically indoctrinated -I’m sorry, I mean “educated”- and we peons are not. But then, so are others scientifically trained, others who actually believe that God can tell the truth and that He created in six days.

For example, I’ve been reading some tremendous articles by the Institute for Creation Research’s Nathaniel T. Jeanson. Jeanson has a PH.D in Cell and Developmental Biology from Harvard University. Other well-educated people also believe the Word of God and don’t feel the need to correct it, such as Dr. Vernon R Cupps, who received a PH.D in nuclear physics from Indiana University  (2).

Should we now remove the miraculous from the Bible so that we can look good in front of the cynics and the atheists and the agnostics? Who are we trying to please: God or man? Of course the creation was not natural-it was miraculous! It was miraculous just as the resurrection of Christ was miraculous. If we’d waited for the resurrection to happen naturally it would never happen at all!

If we really want to please the atheist and the agnostic we will say that there is no God whatsoever, because this is all they will settle for. Don’t expect me to live in that land of wishy-washy hypocrisy.

Lots of people are waiting to get to heaven to ask God, “How old is the earth really?” God may well answer, “It is written…”  (Matthew 4:4). Who then will have the nerve to say, “I know that’s what it says, but what does it mean?”

Phoenix_landing2

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

“Why does it matter?” I can hear some people ask. My answer is that if you’re really believing in the Biblical God for salvation and for your heaven, where are you going to get your basis of authority for that belief from? If the Bible doesn’t mean what it says, how do you know there’s a Jesus, or a heaven, or salvation, or forgiveness from your sins, if it’s all dependent on the “experts”, many of whom don’t believe anyway, and if the secularists and evolutionists are right?

So unbelievers like Dr. X can take a hike so far as I’m concerned: I’m going to believe the plain statements of the Bible, and not look for some way of bowing to the wisdom of man.

NOTE 2: icr.org

Evolutionists cite similarities between various animals, and between various plants, as evidence of our ancestry from single-celled creatures. The “evolutionary tree of life” depicts us all descending from the same one-celled creatures as jellyfish, elephants, butterflies and Venus fly-traps. None of these original single-celled creatures were ever observed, and none of their present-day counterparts and none of the tree’s “branch” entities has ever been observed to develop or evolve into anything else. But hope springs eternal in the minds of ardent atheists, and you’ve been sold a narrative designed to shape your entire world-view, and to destroy your faith.FISHAccording to the tree of life, which is, of necessity, nothing more than a diagram: an “artist’s interpretation” or “artist’s impression”, the more structural and genetic similarities organisms share, the more closely related they are and the closer they are on the Tree of Life (NOTE 1). Four-legged creatures are very closely related, as are two-legged varieties such as the “Great Apes” which classification includes humans.

But we all come from the same Designer: the same Creator. Some design features are common in similarly-shaped animals because they work well and because they have the same designer. What do evolutionists expect to see: five legs? Three eyes? Square hips made of wood? Two heads?

Experts have assured us that we humans have very similar DNA to chimpanzees, and that we and chimps are therefore closely related. This claim has been chipped away and exposed by creationist scientists who found bias in the use of data (see note 2 below).

Somewhat more distantly, two-legged, four-legged and no-legged animals are all related. Yes, your distant cousin is a jellyfish. So don’t be surprised if he has no back-bone.

Anyway, as the saying goes, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Is the conviction as great as the claim? I haven’t yet heard of any evolutionists marrying chimps, have you?

Truth was once a universally-accepted standard which was “out of style”*. Then truth became whatever you wanted it to be. Now political correctness is attempting to muscle out of existence all opposing views of truth, in order to impose its own…

11991563-the-russians-are-coming

Many people have written and commented on post-modernism, and on the “post-truth” age, as have I in my own small, humble, bumbling way. I asked, rhetorically, if anything is objectively true, or is truth only that which we personally or as a society imagine or decide for ourselves is true? Does the answer matter anyway?

In post-modernism, apart from an Almighty God as our Western world now is, nothing is objectively true. There’s no Truth with a capital “T”.  Nothing is incontrovertibly factual, and nothing is set in stone to measure all standards and opinions and decisions by: such truth is out of style. Law, belief, standards and truth itself, are now all, to use a popular euphemism, “fluid”. This is also why the US Constitution is increasingly under attack, or at least being bent out of shape for convenience.

Without that ultimate measuring stick of the Word of God-the removal of which was and is one of the aims of the anti-Church, anti-Christ movement, you’ve got your truth and I’ve got mine, and even if both views are in total opposition it doesn’t really matter, because we can still both be “right” and happy.

I here repeat an assertion of a colleague of mine who calls himself an atheist and a “rationalist”. To demonstrate just how rational he is, he told me that given enough time “anything” can happen, and gave an example by saying that in any universe, due to “the laws of probability” a man would somewhere eventually do backward somersaults through a hoop while being both swallowed and spat out by a whale.

050605-213

Of course, there’s no way of disproving my friend’s theory, but my point is that people-many people now-are prepared to believe patent nonsense, simply because it tickles them, appeals to their view of what truth ought to be like, and might I say, provides a colorful deviation from that measuring stick known as Almighty God.

There are, of course, downsides to this approach to truth. For example, under this kind of logic a politician or celebrity and his compliant media representatives can adjust, hide, twist and manipulate the facts and give a totally different story to the real one, but still be telling the truth- as he sees it. We all know out-workings of that little fallacy.

But it seems to me that those pushing for “fundamental change” in our society have already had some success in taking us all one step further, to a time in which the rest of us are being coerced into accepting one view of things; their rough road to Utopia. What they say is true is to their minds now objective truth-they being the gods of the new age, and any criticism of it is struck down with a hail of insults and accusations. It’s no longer enough for them just to have a wildly differing take on truth: any opposition to their opinion must now be destroyed.

aj_lee_tied_up_and_tape_gagged_6_by_wwetnadivasgagger-d77208n

Political correctness, so-called “hate-speech”, and the accompanying self-righteous inquisition work to push the now old multiverse of truths out of existence: there can be only one acceptable view of things. Any dissension will land you, they intend, out of a job, out of business, and in prison.

What the rest of us are convinced is unquestionably true, such as the fact that men are born men and women women (barring physical mutation) they insist is an old lie-an oppressive construct of dark ages past. Old lies must be buried, burned, knocked down, abolished and forgotten. Truth as seen by all of humanity for all of the several thousand years of civilization is under attack. What most of us have known logically, instinctively, physically and empirically are the things which, opponents are determined, must be abolished and forgotten. We are in the age of Anti-truth.

What-is-truth02

However, here’s some good news: the good news. Jesus Christ said,

I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except by me  (John 14:6).

Yes, dear reader, no matter what may or may not be thrust upon our culture and our time by the enemies of Truth, there is an end in sight to all this madness and foolishness, and it begins with our acceptance of God’s only Son, Jesus Christ.

Tails up all those who think we’re related to chimps, or descended from ape-like creatures. No monkeying around now…

chimpanzee_wide

Despite all the propaganda and speculation foisted onto me at school and through television I have never for a moment believed that I was descended from ape-like creatures. As a kid I wondered why pre-humans would shed all their ape-like fir and then shiver in the cold and start making clothes. I must admit though, that sometimes I can’t help appreciating why some people believe they have ape in their ancestry…

6222002-charles-darwin-on-engraving-from-the-1800-s-british-naturalist-and-writer-best-known-for-his-evoluti

Here are a few related tails tales. This post is an edit of something I wrote four years ago, and which I thought deserved another airing.

ONE

At a creation seminar I attended, given by ex-evolutionist Dr. Tommy Morton, the audience was shown part of a PBS (equivalent and sister to BBC TV) “Nova” special on Lucy, one of the alleged evolutionary links between an ape-like creature and humans. For us all to see and hear, Nova’s narrator explained how scientists had decided that when fossilized, the hip had somehow been fused in the “wrong” position, so that the remains made the animal look like it walked too much like an ape, and not much like the link they believed it to be. So, in front of the camera, the scientist cut the joint and fixed it in the position he believed it was originally, and hey presto…it’s a genuine missing link, touted and promoted by public television for millions to see! Don’t think for a minute that this type of scientific “research” is rare…

TWO

A few years ago I played escort for a party of people on a trip to the “Chimpanzee and Human Communication Institute” at Central Washington University. The institute’s website makes the claim that chimps living there have “acquired the signs of American Sign Language (ASL), and use those signs in conversations with each other and their human companions”. This “accomplishment” apparently has resulted “in a better understanding of ourselves, as well as our place and role in nature”. The site also refers to the chimps as “our fellow apes” (hey-speak for yourself and count me out!)

I can remember seeing the first chimp to “acquire a human language”, on TV in the UK. Her name was “Washoe”, born in 1965. Washoe was the matriarch of the CHCI family at CWU. Even at the age of twelve it seemed to me that there was something not quite right about the link they were making between us and the chimp’s mimicking of gestures.

Anyway, when my party and I arrived at the institute, and before being allowed to see any of the chimps, we were given strict instructions on how to behave in front of them. We were told to stoop and not to stand erect, in a gesture of peace and deference.  We were given one or two simple hand signs in order to have some basic communication with them. And we were told not to reveal our teeth: a toothy smile was a serious no-no, as this is a sign of aggression to chimps (wait a moment – I thought they were supposed to be becoming more like us, not us more like them!)

Once inside the enclosure, we were all extremely relieved to bear in mind that there was a thick, shatterproof glass wall between us and those rather large chimps, because with one accord they decided that instead of having a nice chat about the weather, or the latest football scores or stock market report, they were going to make us jump out of our skins by charging at the glass and hammering on it with all their might. The glass boomed… everyone gasped and jumped back, then after a few seconds laughed nervously, realizing and hoping that that glass barrier would keep us apart from animals which were capable of ripping our limbs off.

In 2002, researchers at Plymouth University in England were so inspired by the belief that a million monkeys poking away at typewriters for a million years would generate the entire works of Shakespeare, that they decided to go at least some way towards proving it. They left a computer in a cage with six macaque monkeys at Paignton Zoo for a month.

The best that could be said about the following achievements of the monkeys is that they had a very effective stint at typing S’s – pages of them. However, rather than sitting down to get to work on a literary masterpiece, the lead male decided to “bash the hell” out of the keyboard with a rock, as one researcher put it. The male and the other five also took great pleasure in urinating and defecating on it.

As Benjamin Wiker and Jonathan Witt remarked,

“Even the simplest English sentence of the “See Spot run” type is beyond the capabilities of real monkeys, no matter how long you give them” 1

FOUR

As far back as the 1960’s, there were a number of individual not involved in scientific research, who had independently arrived at the conclusion that they were indeed close relatives of chimpanzees. In fact, they were so sure of it that they formed an association to affirm their heritage, aptly named “The Monkees”. Before long they had written an anthem to celebrate their shared beliefs and characteristics:

Hey!

Hey!

We ARE the monkeys!

People say we monkey around,

But we’re too busy singing

To put anybody down!

We’re only trying to be friendly…!” (2).

FIVE

The research on this topic has progressed since I wrote the summarized info below four years ago. Please see note 7 for a link to a 2017 update. This is slightly technical: sorry about that.

For several years now we’ve been told there is conclusive evidence that human and chimp DNA is 95 to 99 percent similar. The evolutionary concept is that apes, particularly chimpanzees and humans, descended from a common ancestor.

In the “chromosome 2 fusion  model”, researchers claimed that two small chimpanzee chromosomes fused at some time in the not so distant past, forming one large stable chromosome, which is “why” the great apes have 24 chromosomes and humans have 23. The evidence that led them to make this conclusion was that there was a cluster of “telomere” sequences in the middle of human chromosome 2. Since telomeres were originally considered to be only at the ends of chromosomes, and that they serve only as a kind of “cap” on the chromosome, researchers concluded that this cluster was evidence for the fusion model.

At the Institute for Creation Research, Dr. Jeffrey Tomkins, with a PH. D. in genetics, and Dr. Jerry Bergman, a professor at Northwest State College in Ohio, have been following the secular research and resulting claims closely, and have carried out extensive studies of their own from the standpoint of the creationist. In 2011 they reported that they had found that telomeres are not unique structures only present at chromosome ends, but that there are in fact many telomeres, telomere clusters, and telomere repeats throughout the genome, often within internal regions of human chromosomes (3).

In 2012 Tomkins and Bergman authored reports in the Journal of Creation on the human-chimp DNA question. The first reviewed relevant secular science literature. Their own analysis detailed many differences in genomic DNA, gene regulation, regulatory DNA features, micro DNA code and gene splicing.

The second paper examined secular research methods and discarded data. It concluded that:

“All analyzed cases of reported human-chimp DNA sequence similarity is based on biased data selection and exclusion techniques. DNA sequence data that is too dissimilar to be conveniently aligned are omitted, masked, or completely excluded. Furthermore, gap data within DNA sequence alignments are typically omitted, further biasing similarity estimates”

The report continues:

“These highly selective data-discarding techniques, fueled by Darwinian dogma, lead to the commonly claimed 98 percent similarity between human and chimp”

The authors concluded at that time from their own analysis that the two are not more than 81-87 percent similar (4).

In January of 2013, Dr. Tomkins wrote a report titled “Epigenetics Proves Human and Chimp are Different”.

Epigenetics is the study of how DNA has been modified in such a way that its chemistry has changed, but not the actual base pairs that make up the genetic code of the sequence. Recent studies have shown dramatic differences in human and chimps in regard to epigenetics, particularly in a process known as “methylation”. This difference is recognized by secular researchers (5).

In February of 2013, Tomkins’ article, “Chromosome Comparison Shows More Chimp-human Differences”, discussed ICR’s ongoing research. Tomkins wrote:

“For the primary chimp chromosomes (autosomes), the amount of optimally aligned DNA sequence provided similarities between 66 and 76 percent, depending on the chromosome…”

Continuing, Tomkins noted that only 69 percent of the chimpanzee X chromosome and only 43 percent of the Y chromosome were similar to human DNA. His conclusion:

“These results illustrate the genetic and biblical fact that humans are not just another primate, but are uniquely created in the image of God” (6).

This Bible passage comes naturally to mind, in which major signs of the decline of a civilization are outlined:

“Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools…They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator – who is forever praised, Amen” (Romans chapter 1, especially verses 22, 25).
