Foundations of all kinds are being assaulted daily - foundations of thought, culture, tradition and belief. They will disappear from under your feet if you let them. However, there is one foundation which cannot be removed and upon which all truth and all that is eternal stands: Jesus Christ. Are you standing on the Rock which cannot be moved?
Today I'm re-launching a series of posts on the subject of speaking in tongues. My motivation is to help correct some errors in the Church which are at best mistaken beliefs and at worst a demonic deception and a mockery of God. These articles are intended for those who are genuinely asking what the true nature of this spiritual gift is, and whether it's a vital part of the Christian's walk with the Lord.
When we pray for healing does God's apparent inaction stem from our failure to work up enough faith? Would we all be fit and healthy if only we had plenty of it? Does the faith which is as small as a mustard seed really need to be as big as a mountain? I don't claim to be an expert in this field, and neither am I a man greatly empowered by the Holy Spirit as some people see power. However, I do have some answers from Scripture-the Bible-for those who are genuinely seeking.
If my title caught your attention it's either because you think you're a prophet, or more likely because you're brave enough to question the veracity of the modern day "prophet of God" who seems to be around almost every church corner. I've known enough of them to know what I'm talking about: some well-meaning and helpful; some wanna-be Peters and Pauls, convinced that they are the power of God on the earth.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is one of those indispensable doctrines for anyone claiming to follow him. Paul made this plain in his first letter to the Corinthians. He had seen the risen Christ, and he stressed that without the resurrection the Christian faith and the Christian gospel is empty and powerless. Without it we are dead in our sins, and without it we are not outworking the will of God as we like to think, but just playing at being good people before our lives end and we are extinguished forever.
