Where do our thoughts come from? Experts of all stripes who view the world from a totally naturalistic viewpoint insist that every thought is a production of the brain - a physical organ. Those of us who believe in something beyond the brain know there's more to the human mind than just meat, chemicals and electrical signals. I'll take that statement one step further: the "meat", the chemical interactions and the electrical signals are vital tools for our spirits to operate in a physical world.
I like to make sure a seeker can easily find the gospel message on my blog, while I still have the freedom to do it, and while the seeker is still free enough to seek. The most important truth to share with anyone at anytime, anywhere, is the gospel of Jesus Christ. Some people spend all their time on trivial things and ignore the most profound, consequential matters in all time and space. Of all those profound things, the gospel message is at the top of the list.
Reading through Paul's letters I'm struck by how little he talks about the Holy Spirit, in comparison to the regularity with which the Spirit is spoken of and to in our present time in some circles, as though the object of our worship should be the Spirit above all else. To those of us who pay attention to the New Testament over "what God is saying to us today" there's a clear picture and a clear message in it for us all.
I had planned that this part of my series would discuss deception. Instead, this is an interjection, written because it seems to me that an equally large problem to deception is apathy within the Church, and among professing Christians.
Atheists mock Christians for worshiping a God who can’t be seen. He isn’t peeping out from behind the clouds, he isn’t sitting on the church roof, he’s never been to a good university and he doesn’t stop people stealing from little old ladies.Â
