Culture changes by the day. You may be young and think the world you see will continue for all your life: it won't. Powerful forces are at work to ensure that, and you yourself may be a part of that powerful force. What makes you feel safe and comfortable now may not be there in a few years, and the same can be applied to who makes you feel safe and comfortable.
Without doubt, plucking a verse from the Bible to see you through the day can be uplifting and encouraging, but a careful study of an entire book will reveal some things you would never notice just from those one-verse wonders. My recent walk through Paul's letter to the Romans revealed some things I hadn't noticed before.
In Part One I discussed the faulty application of Jesus’ words, “You do not know the day or the hour” to the pre-tribulation rapture theory. This post continues on from there. It's taken from my book (link below).
Could Jesus Christ return without notice, at a time we aren't expecting Him to come? I will demonstrate in a two-part article that Biblical imminence is taken out of context to prove a pre-Tribulation rapture. Most especially I will draw attention to the fact that Jesus spoke of the imminence of his coming to those who would still be on the earth during Tribulation events.
My title may strike some as expressing an un-Christian sentiment. Surely, Christians should like everyone, shouldn't they? What does it mean to "like" a person anyway? I would say that in loving we don't have to like everything people do or say or think. We don't have to like that which is evil or that which offends the Spirit within us. We don't have to smile at something we're convinced is wrong or which we have no affinity for. We have the dignity and right to have our own views, tastes and preferences. If I say I don't like your music I'm not committing a sin. However, we are required and commanded to love.
