People who regard themselves as Christians yet pay little or no attention to the Bible are getting their direction in life from somewhere else. It's coming from their church's doctrine and tradition, and from priests; It's coming from what their pastor tells them in his own "inspired" sermons, or from what other Christians tell them, or worst of all, it's coming from their own idea of what's right or wrong.
Jesus told his disciples, and by extension us, to stand firm to the end in an increasingly cold world. It isn't easy when you can't trust most of the people around you, when you can't trust your own leaders, when the world appears to be falling apart, and when there is very little or no genuine love or affection to keep you going.
What should we think about the millions and billions of people throughout history who have never heard the gospel? Are they rejected by God? Welcome readers. This post is so long I had to divide it. The Bible tells us God so loved the world that He sent His only son to die as a sacrifice for our sin. The gospel is God's message of love to us through Jesus Christ. What do we do, then, with the question of those who have never heard the gospel?
Without doubt, plucking a verse from the Bible to see you through the day can be uplifting and encouraging, but a careful study of an entire book will reveal some things you would never notice just from those one-verse wonders. My recent walk through Paul's letter to the Romans revealed some things I hadn't noticed before.
