From time to time I write about my conviction that Jesus Christ will return soon, and without setting dates I personally see his return occurring within decades, not centuries or millennia. If I'm wrong, I'll apologise later. You can ignore or mock, or you can carefully consider the possibilities. Here's a sketchy summary of thoughts on the matter. King Charles recently stated that he is no longer just the defender of the Christian faith but the defender of all faiths. Such a statement is doublespeak. I totally agree with defending the people of every faith if they're not trying to dominate or destroy your civilization and culture: that's a Godly thing to do. I'm also happy to live next door to and mix with people who are not at all like me. However, if you claim that all faiths are equally valid and aim to defend all faiths you are unavoidably denying all faiths, because all real faiths have specific beliefs
Foundations of all kinds are being assaulted daily - foundations of thought, culture, tradition and belief. They will disappear from under your feet if you let them. However, there is one foundation which cannot be removed and upon which all truth and all that is eternal stands: Jesus Christ. Are you standing on the Rock which cannot be moved?
When we pray for healing does God's apparent inaction stem from our failure to work up enough faith? Would we all be fit and healthy if only we had plenty of it? Does the faith which is as small as a mustard seed really need to be as big as a mountain? I don't claim to be an expert in this field, and neither am I a man greatly empowered by the Holy Spirit as some people see power. However, I do have some answers from Scripture-the Bible-for those who are genuinely seeking.
I've always loved that verse contained in Isaiah, speaking of the coming time when God's reign is made manifest on the earth, which tells us that "the trees of the field shall clap their hands" (Isaiah 55:12). I thought, as most Bible-believing and conservative Christians will insist, that such passages speaking of nature as having consciousness are metaphorical only. The trees will seem to be clapping their hands because that's the sound some trees make when a strong breeze blows through them. However, I'm just beginning to open up my mind to the possibility that such passages speak of something more than metaphor.
