Paul, in addressing a false teaching going around in his day which claimed that the Day of the Lord had already come and gone, speaks of two things which will unmistakably precede and mark the commencement of the real Day of the Lord. Then, while expounding on these two signs, he says that some will believe "the lie". What is the nature of this future untruth?
Could Jesus Christ come for His Church today or tomorrow, in a surprise rapture event, leaving planes to fall from the sky and empty cars to crash in traffic? Could Jesus Christ return without notice, at a time we aren't expecting Him to come and with no prior notice? I will demonstrate in a two-part article that Biblical "imminence" is taken out of context to prove a pre-Tribulation rapture. Most especially I will draw attention to the fact that Jesus spoke of the imminence of his coming to those who would still be on the earth during Tribulation events.
Two human traits which are most corrosive and ugly when operating together are ignorance and arrogance. People who are both ignorant and arrogant tend to assume that you are the ignorant one. They may have more respect if you have letters after your name, but not if you don't think as they do. We need to stand our ground internally so as not to be drawn into their desire to diminish our self-respect and our confidence.
From time to time I write about my conviction that Jesus Christ will return soon, and without setting dates I personally see his return occurring within decades, not centuries or millennia. If I'm wrong, I'll apologise later. You can ignore or mock, or you can carefully consider the possibilities. Here's a sketchy summary of thoughts on the matter.
