SAYING IT WHILE YOU CAN

To everything there is a season…(Solomon).

There’s a time, and the time is now and it’s right for me… (Jon Anderson).

The point of these opening quotes is to share my conviction that it’s time to speak out while speaking out is still possible. I know this is probably sounding rather extreme and alarmist, but what I want to say is that it’s time to be spiritually prepared for what may be-I say may be-just around the corner…

The time is coming, and is probably already here, when free speech as the West has known it will be no more. If you aren’t on the correct side of political and social issues, you will be at the very least ostracized; at the most imprisoned and financially stripped, and eventually, you could be, in the words of the Cybermen (above) “Deleted”. To those of you already completely overcome by the P.C. virus, I must say that this reference to certain fictional non-human characters is a rhetorical device only: I’m not suggesting that earth is going to be invaded by the Cybermen!

Unfortunately a lot of our church leaders (but certainly not all) have either accepted the wickedness of man as being acceptable practices, or have gone silent for fear of making waves. They have also abandoned Scripture as being authoritative. Preaching is now mostly eisegesis rather than exegesis: giving a man-made view of life and God and even scripture and using one or two verses to back up the ideas. Worship now seems more like entertainment. As many have pointed out, the reason for the current state of our culture is substantially that the church has allowed itself to become corrupted or silenced.

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing”-Edmund Burke.

Political correctness has been almost given free rein until a couple of years ago. It took a billionaire with considerable intestinal fortitude to stand up and be counted, and to attempt to pull the United States back from the death of free-speech, and the precipice of globalism and moral decay. “We will say “Merry Christmas again!” (if we want to) he promised. Millions have rallied to him, as I have, because here for the first time in who-knows-how-long, someone is prepared to say and do what needs to be said and done about many things, and to brave the barrage of opposition and hatred which comes as a result. I do hope and pray that his efforts and courage will have lasting effects on our world, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

The problem is that we may already be too close to that proverbial precipice, largely because the bulk of our secular media and entertainment industry is firmly on the side of those wishing to upend our culture and hand it over to Satan. Ooh! That’s a strong accusation, isn’t it? Yes, it is, and it happens to be Biblical too. They-the media and their faultless Party and its supporters in Washington, almost succeeded in selling the “Russia collusion” fraud and carrying out a soft coup. Their myriad other attempts to bring down a president have so far failed, except to keep his ratings down among some voter groups. If the so-called “free media” can do such things and get away with it, and and after all, with truly free-speech they are allowed to lie if they are so inclined: what will they do next?

Our current president will not be in that position for any more than five more years, and what will happen once he’s gone? How will the radicals now pushing themselves and their morally corrupt and perverted ways onto the rest of us deal with us and our country once they gain power again? Judging by their far more open anger; their willingness to come clean with their extreme goals; their lies and their total lack of shame, it’s not going to be pleasant.

One way in which I planned to write this post was to title it, “The Party of the Beast”. It could also be titled, “The Media of the Beast”, or “The Hour of the Beast”. All those titles would be true, to my mind. Read Revelation and related passages and you’ll find that the radicals in our nation and in the Western world; those pushing for the demise of Western principles of government and freedom, and of history-long norms, have the same goals as the government of the Beast will have, when he arrives.

Who is “the father of lies” according to Jesus (John 8:44)? The answer is obvious, and a media (including social media) which promotes lies and falsehoods, while claiming to be informing the public, is serving its father and its own bias, and not the people or the nation. They are the real traitors.

The Party and the people of the Beast will not care for honesty: they will get what they want in any way necessary (Daniel 8:12). They will not care for the law-legal or moral (2 Thessalonians 2:3). They will not care for the value of life (Revelation 13:15). They will hate Christianity and Christ’s faithful followers (Revelation 12:17; 13:7). They will hate Israel and its supporters (Zechariah 12:3; Revelation 12:13). They will defend the immoral and the lawbreakers (Revelation 9:21).

They will be accusers, just as their father is (Revelation 12:10). They will work for globalization and the end of nationality (Daniel 2:43). They will want total governmental control over all financial transactions-in a global context (Revelation 13). They will demand a global religion, and hate Christianity and Judaism (Revelation 13).

Don’t let the world blind you to these alarm bells: be wary and be spiritually prepared in Jesus Christ. Share your faith, knowing that doing so might not always be allowed or possible without consequences.

GREETING FREEDOM

In the course of my work I’ve been wished a “merry Christmas” many more times this season than in the last several years. I’ve also heard “happy holidays” of course, but the increase in the “C” word is marked and clear. I’m happy to hear either: I’m not offended…

Snowflake_DetailWhichever greeting suits you is fine with me, so long as whichever greeting suits me is fine with you. And therein is my point. In a truly free and diverse country we should all be able to be what we are, and we should all have the opportunity to offer our views. Once someone claims “offense” at someone else’s thoughts and beliefs we’re losing freedom and heading towards tyranny.

When Mr Trump was running for election he said “We’re going to say ‘Merry Christmas’ again!” Thank you, Mr President, for defying the liars, those who hate the faith of our fathers, and those who wish tyranny upon us.

TALKING POLITICS

Some believers tell the rest of us that we shouldn’t be involved in politics: we shouldn’t speak politics, and we shouldn’t run for office. That’s just “worldly” stuff, they say. Thank goodness George Washington and his peers didn’t see it the same way. I don’t either…so here I go…

Those actors and other big names currently attempting their own little revolution in the US should either hold their peace (was that polite enough?) and then run for office, or they should leave the country as they promised to before the election, and go somewhere where their brand of politics reigns, like Iran or North Korea.

If they don’t like the rules of the election, why didn’t they say something about the rules before the election, when they were convinced that their side was going to win? When you play a game with someone-let’s say a board game-you begin with the understanding that there are rules to be followed. You don’t start shouting about the rules and throw the board across the room when you lose. If you do, you can’t “legitimately” (to use a popular word these days) claim that you won the game. Both parties knew about the electoral college before the US election, which is why both candidates campaigned in such a way as to win the electoral college, with the media claiming that Trump had “no path to 270”. One candidate won, the other lost,  according to pre-agreed rules.

I received a letter from that nice Inland Revenue Service about my lack of health coverage, and about how much money I’ll have to give them as a penalty. True, it’s my fault I didn’t obey the law-the rules-and sign up. But my impression was that Mr Obama’s intention in the “Affordable Care Act” was to help those who couldn’t afford coverage, not to slap huge “penalties” (fines) on them.

I’ve learned that many who have coverage end up paying large deductibles when they do get ill, and those who have government assistance to pay for the required coverage are only covered for the most basic procedures. For example, the government will pay to pull your tooth out, but not for a root canal. It is, as justice Kennedy declared enabling the Act to pass into law, a “TAX”, and governments can legally tax all they want. Somehow this particular tax was massaged and shoved down the public’s throat by dressing it up as compassion for the poor. I know from experience that free treatment or reduced costs were already available before the Act to those who couldn’t afford treatment, and that huge numbers of immigrants-including illegals-were also able to take advantage of those benefits. There was no “penalty” for those who didn’t have coverage, and nobody went untreated. Ergo, the Act actually made things worse, not better. Oh, the intricacies of politics!

Politics affect us all. And in a nation with the benefit, blessing and privilege of voting-of at least having a little say in who runs the country-believers should take an active interest, for many reasons. We have the ability to influence how millions of people are treated; what kind of society we have; whether godly standards are implemented or if immorality will dismantle our families and our homes; whether money will be used wisely or wasted; whether or not the nation and the world is secure; whether or not we have real freedom of speech or a creeping belief system attempting to shut down our minds and our way of life.

Yes, actors can say what they want-just as we all (in theory) can. That’s thanks to those of today and those of past generations who’ve shaped a relatively free society, by prayerfully getting involved, instead of ignoring the world they lived in.
